Can a uPVC window be repaired without replacing it?
Often, yes. Hinges, handles, locks, espags, gaskets and other serviceable components can frequently be repaired or replaced while retaining the existing frame.
Why will my uPVC window not close properly?
Common causes include worn hinges, a dropped sash, misalignment or a locking mechanism that is not engaging correctly. The right repair depends on diagnosing which component is causing the problem.
Can you repair a window that will not lock?
Yes. We can inspect the handle, espag or other locking hardware, keeps and sash alignment and specify the failed component rather than assuming the whole window needs replacement.
Do you repair draughty uPVC windows?
Yes. Draughts can be caused by worn gaskets, poor compression, hinge wear or alignment problems. We assess the cause before recommending seals or adjustment.
Why does my uPVC door only lock if I lift it hard?
The door may be misaligned, the hinges may have dropped, the keeps may need adjustment or the locking mechanism may be worn. Inspection is needed before deciding whether adjustment or replacement parts are required.
Can a uPVC door gearbox be replaced?
In many cases, yes. The gearbox is a replaceable part of many multipoint mechanisms, but correct identification of the existing lock and measurements is important.
Do you repair composite doors as well as uPVC?
Yes. We can assess many common composite-door hardware and alignment faults including multipoint locks, cylinders, handles and hinges.
Can you change the cylinder without replacing the whole lock?
Where the cylinder is the failed or unsuitable part, it can often be replaced independently. We first check that the rest of the locking mechanism is operating correctly.
Why is there condensation between my double-glazing panes?
Moisture between the panes commonly indicates that the sealed glass unit has failed and is no longer maintaining the sealed cavity as intended.
Do I need a whole new window if the glass is misted?
Not automatically. If the frame and hardware remain serviceable, the sealed glass unit can often be measured and replaced independently.
Can you replace obscure or patterned glass?
We can record the existing glass and pattern during the survey and source an appropriate replacement where available.
Do you replace glass in doors too?
Yes. We can survey glazed door panels and sealed units as well as windows, subject to the frame and glazing system being suitable for repair.
Can you identify an old window or door lock?
We record visible markings and relevant measurements and use those details to identify suitable replacement hardware where it remains available.
Do stiff handles always need replacing?
No. A stiff handle may be reacting to a worn or misaligned mechanism. The opening should be diagnosed before deciding whether the handle itself is the problem.
Can window hinges be replaced?
Yes. Worn friction stays and other common window hinges can often be replaced if the frame and sash remain suitable.
Do you repair multipoint door locks?
Yes. We assess the gearbox, locking strip, keeps and door alignment so the repair addresses the actual fault.
Why is my uPVC window draughty even though the seal looks fine?
The sash may not be compressing evenly against the frame because of hinge wear, alignment or locking adjustment, so the gasket can look intact while still allowing air through.
Can all uPVC window seals be replaced?
Many can, but gasket profiles vary and the correct replacement needs to suit the frame. We inspect the existing seal and the underlying closing condition first.
Will adjustment stop a draught?
Sometimes. If the cause is poor alignment or compression rather than degraded gasket, adjustment may be part of the correct repair.
Can you check several draughty windows at once?
Yes. A survey can record each affected room and unit so repairs and parts can be quoted together.
What is Window & Door Total Restore?

Is Total Restore the same as replacing the window?
No. The purpose is to assess what can sensibly be retained and restored. Replacement is only recommended where repair is not appropriate.
Can you restore several windows at one property?
Yes. Units can be surveyed individually and grouped into one property-level repair programme and quotation.
Will I get a record of what was surveyed?
